This modality has been reintroduced to professional health care providers and lay persons by the osteopathic profession. Dr. John Upledger is one of the most acclaimed physicians to bring research and teaching to this treatment. Since the early 1970's, the Upledger Institute has brought craniosacral therapy to the forefront of alternative medicine.

The session consists of gentle manipulation to the structure within the body core addressing the spinal cord, cranium and sacrum. Persons with migraines, temporal mandibular joint dysfunction, back pain or chronic disorders note improvement or resolution. A client may experience an array of sensations or just a peaceful deep relaxation. Duration of treatment for adults is approximately one hour and for infants and children, a session may vary from 20 to 45 minutes. Clients are asked to wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing.
